Welcome to the Wellington Jet Sport Club website

The Wellington Jet Sport Club was established in the late 90’s, originally to enable Wellington to be able to host racing events in the area.

Over the years it has held numerous enduro and short course racing events, hosted the NZ Jet Sport Nationals multiple times and has run many social events around the country and continues to do so.

  • We own our own clubrooms situated at the western end of Grays Road on Pauatahanui Inlet and have recently completed a new deck and floating jetty.  This clubroom is available for use by all club members.
  • We offer people who are interested in riding and racing PWC (personal water craft, also known as “jetskis”) the opportunity to meet with and ride with others
  • We regularly meet up with members from other jet sport clubs at various locations around New Zealand
  • We organise an annual Cook Strait crossing.
  • People who ride and race jetskis come from all age groups – we have teens and grandparents as part of our membership
  • There are several different classes for racing eg: novice, veteran, women, stock, open
  • We are a very family orientated sport and even if you do not ride we value the input of family members and supporters to help with a huge variety of tasks involved in running a meeting, such as lap scoring or pit crew (no experience necessary)
  • As a rider, you don’t need to be hugely experienced – you can gain confidence and learn from watching others
  • We have social rides as well as racing events

Foxton Enduro Postponement

Unfortunately we are going to have to postpone our upcoming winter enduro.

As with all events, we need participation for them to run competitively and efficiently.

Once we have decided on a new date, we will get into gear for that.
Stay tuned…..

Wellington Champs results

A great day was had down at the clubrooms at our impromptu “Wellington Champs” in lieu of the North Island Champs not running, here are the results from the day.

Don’t miss our next club day coming up on Sunday April 13th.

North Island Champs update

It is with sincere disappointment that we have made the hard decision to cancel the North Island Champs round in Porirua. It has been a difficult decision but due to very low numbers of riders registered across several of the classes we are unable to run those. We have worked hard to promote this event and encourage participation but without more support the event will be too small to run.

The club still wishes to organise something for riders still wanting to participate in something and so we will hold a club day on Saturday the 1st of February at the WJSC clubrooms (Grays Rd, Pauatahanui – Map) where we will organise some casual racing around our local track. We hope that you’d still like to join us for this and enjoy some socially competitive racing, BBQ and refreshments.

We’ll start with registration and scrutineering at 9am and racing will start around 11am. Entry for the club day is just $30.00 per rider and $20.00 for a day license if required.

We sincerely apologise to those of you from out of the Wellington region who have arranged travel to make this event.

Summer Club day Round 2 results

Here are the results from the second round of the RedHot Marine Summer fun club days.

A great day was had by all with Both Runabout Stock and N/A being full and having a women’s class.

Racing was close and there weren’t many points between the front runners and in two cases the First and Second places finished the day on equal points!  In this case the rider that obtained the higher position in the last race takes the leading position.

North Island Champs Entry open

Entry is now open for the North Island Champs to be held on the 1st-2nd February 2025.

Get your registration in now for us to confirm numbers for the weekend.

Cook Strait Crossing Postponement

Unfortunately due to the upcoming forecast for this weekend we have had to make the decision to postpone this Cook Strait crossing.

We will be looking to run the crossing again early in the new year and hopefully manage to get a much better weather outcome next time.

Labour weekend rides cancellation

Unfortunately we have had to cancel the Lake Taupo & Waikato river rides running this weekend.

We were unaware of changes that require applying to the Tuwharetoa Māori Trust to use the lake and have been informed by them and the harbour master this morning that these rides cannot go ahead.

We apologise for the late notice and disappointing outcome. We’ve never had an issue over the previous years of running this event so this development has been a surprise to the club too.

We hope you all enjoy your long weekend and are still able to get out on the water.
